Dhairya Bhatia

ML researcher and second-year MS CS student at Northeastern (Khoury). I build and evaluate multimodal and video-language models in PyTorch, with a focus on benchmarking, temporal reasoning and large-scale experiments on HPC. At ACLab I designed and led MotionBlind, a benchmark that probes motion understanding in video-LLMs. I also co-founded a Rust game studio at NU Launch Labs, serve as a GSG Senator, and recently TAed CS3100. Before this: BSc CS at UBC, internships at Oriv and Intella Payments.

/about/summary

Video-language models

Research Assistant at ACLab (advisor: Prof. Sarah Ostadabbas). Designed and led MotionBlind, collecting 100+ paired clips across 9 motion categories. Built VLM evaluation pipelines on an HPC cluster and set baselines across open-source models. Earlier collected 50+ video pairs for the TimeBlind Challenge benchmark, presented at the CV4Smalls Workshop, CVPR 2026.

Agentic + Rust systems

At CACTILab: a multi-stage agentic code-generation pipeline with LLM orchestration, compiler-in-the-loop verification, model tiering and per-turn cost observability. Co-founded Project Escalion, a Rust game engine studio at NU Launch Labs, and contributed to MITRE eCTF 2026 (embedded security firmware).

Teaching + leadership

TA for CS3100 at Khoury — analyzing student AI usage patterns and designing curriculum around it. GSG Senator for Student Affairs: Senator of the Month (Feb 2026) and GLI Emerging Graduate Leader. MS CS at Northeastern, previously BSc CS at UBC.
